willy vlyminck Vintage prog. but not in a pejorative meaning, on the contrary this is fabulous.The first bands springing to mind are Agusa, Anekdoten and Anglagard due to the heaps of mellotron but this is something very different altogether with traces of early Floyd and Tangerine Dream, but without being a copy of their inspiration sources. with thx to M.Foujita for this great find.

It was many years later in 2009 when the founding trio got together again, but it didn’t last too long. From 2012 on, they were playing again powered by Xabi Martínez on drums. This formation was highly creative but always in improvisation format. Xabi left in 2014 and the original trio kept on working the improvisation way but without drumming.
The original trio decided to record a new album in a very experimental process. Instead of writing music, adding new fresh and improvised ideas over the other’s ideas. This is Rivendel’s new album “DHD”, recently released on their own label Lednevir Records. “DHD” is an original and creative effort composed of three long tracks. The music is often difficult to describe because styles and influences are varied and diverse. The added fact of not using percussion at all is also a trademark of this album. An acquired taste that is very rewarding after a few listens.

Rivendel is formed in 1985 by Toño, Josemari & Oscar. With Mikel they recorded a track for EXPOSURE'88 and MANIFESTO (1990). Juancar replaced Mikel for UGUM II and THE MEANING (1996)
They reformed in 2009 and as a trio they recorded DHD (2015)..
SISYPHOS (2018) is their 4th álbum featuring Xabi on drums.
